99-Year-Old Texas Woman Sets Guinness Record for Oldest Concert Crowd Surfer

BELLVILLE, TX — A 99-year-old woman has broken the Guinness World Record for the oldest person to crowd surf at a concert.

Pauline Kana achieved the feat earlier this month at the Austin County Fairgrounds in Bellville during the “Rock the Country” event. While Brantley Gilbert performed on stage, Kana — who was 99 years and 274 days old — was placed on a cushioned stretcher and crowd surfed above more than 20,000 fans.

In a video posted by her grandson, Ross Smith, Kana is seen smiling from ear to ear as the crowd erupted into chants of “Granny! Granny!” as she moved across the sea of concertgoers. By the end of the clip, she proudly held up her Guinness World Record certificate, looked into the camera and declared, “I did it! I’m the greatest of all time!”

Kana, who will celebrate her 100th birthday in August, had already become an internet sensation known as “Gangster Granny” through viral videos shared by Smith.

“Thank you to all 20,000 people for making this happen,” Smith wrote in the caption of the viral post. “I still get chills hearing everyone chant ‘Granny.’ Such an iconic and hilarious moment.”

Smith submitted the video to Guinness and thanked festival organizers for helping make the record possible.
