Body of Woman Recovered in Kerrville Flooding; 2 Still Missing

KERRVILLE, TX — The body of a woman who went missing during the catastrophic Fourth of July weekend flooding in the Texas Hill Country was recovered Tuesday in the Kerrville area, Gov. Greg Abbott announced.

“Today, Task Force 1 recovered the body of a missing adult female lost in the flood,” Abbott said on social media. “We are still missing one adult male and a little girl from Camp Mystic. Our search continues.”

The deadly flooding along the Guadalupe River has claimed the lives of at least 135 people, including 27 fatalities at Camp Mystic, according to officials.

Initial reports from Kerr County suggested more than 100 additional people were unaccounted for, though that number was later revised down to three.

Abbott has called a special legislative session to address flood emergency planning and response. A Central Texas Flood Recovery Fund has also been established to aid long-term recovery efforts, with 100% of donations pledged to local rebuilding.
