Odessa Police Officer Among Those Killed in Texas Floods

ODESSA, TX — The Odessa Police Department announced that one of its officers, Bailey Martin, was among those killed in the Hill Country flooding.

Martin and some of his family members took a trip to the Guadalupe River near Kerrville for the July 4 holiday.

Odessa PD shared that Martin’s family suffered multiple losses and requested privacy on their behalf.

Honor Guard members and officers who were close to Bailey will stand watch over his casket at a Travis County facility until he is released and will then escort him home.

Odessa officers are wearing mourning bands over their badges, and all flags in front of the police department have been lowered to half-staff.

Odessa’s citizens are encouraged to replace their porch lights with blue bulbs for the rest of the week in remembrance of Martin.
