Brother of Pat Green Confirmed Dead in Texas Floods

KERR COUNTY, TX — The younger brother of Texas country singer Pat Green has been confirmed dead after floods swept through parts of Texas over the weekend, authorities said.

John Burgess and his wife, Julia Anderson Burgess, were staying with their two sons at the Blue Oak RV Park in Kerr County when the flooding occurred. Both adults have died, and their two children remain missing, according to reports from KWTX and KHOU.

Pat Green shared Monday that his family was experiencing “a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss.”

Lorena Guillen, owner of the RV park, told The New York Post that her husband tried to help the family during the flood. “My husband was in the water trying to ask them, ‘Please throw me your baby!’” she said. “The man was holding tight to his babies, and he just got swept away.”

The Burgess family, who live in Liberty, Texas, had been visiting Kerr County when the flooding hit.

Sheriff Larry Leitha said the bodies of 30 children were among those recovered in Kerr County, which is home to Camp Mystic and several other summer camps near the river.

More than 100 deaths have been reported across Texas, including 87 in Kerr County. Nineteen deaths were reported across Travis, Burnet, Kendall, Tom Green and Williamson counties, local officials said.

Search efforts are continuing for those still missing.
