COLLEGE STATION, TX — Former Texas A&M football safety Brian Williams has died at the age of 24, following a reported severe heat stroke after running a half marathon over the weekend, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The university’s football program confirmed Williams’ death in a social media post on Tuesday.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of former Texas A&M Football safety Brian Williams ’24,” the post read.
Williams’ brother, former Arkansas running back Rawleigh Williams III, posted a tribute Sunday on Instagram alongside photos of the two through the years.
“B you are my heart,” he wrote. “The BEST version of us in every single way B. I don’t think I can make it without you but I’m going to try for our parents and our sister. I love you brother.”
Williams played in 19 games over three seasons with the Aggies, recording eight tackles and one tackle for loss. He received the Freshman Strength Award in 2019.
A four-star recruit out of Bishop Dunne High School in Dallas, Williams earned Under Armour All-American honors prior to his collegiate career.
Former Texas A&M teammate Leon O’Neal Jr. also shared condolences Sunday, posting: “Rest easy brother B Will.”
No additional details about Williams’ death have been released.
