BIG LAKE, TX —  Numerous roads in West Texas are being shut down by the Texas Department of Transportation due to major dust storms.

A blowing dust advisory was issued by the National Weather Service at 11:03 a.m. until 6 p.m. for Coke, Crockett, Fisher, Irion, Nolan, Schleicher, Sterling, and Tom Green counties.

A dust storm was blamed for a 21-car pileup outside of Roswell, New Mexico, on Monday, with wind gusts recorded up to 77 miles per hour.
