AUSTIN, TX - The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.70 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
That price is seven cents less compared to this day last week and is 18 cents less per gallon compared to this day last year.
Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in the El Paso area are paying the most on average at $2.86 per gallon while drivers in Lubbock are paying the least at $2.59 per gallon.
San Angelo drivers are paying $2.64, which is 20 cents lower than a week ago when a gallon of regular unleaded gas was priced at $2.84. A year ago, gas prices in San Angelo were priced at $2.87.
The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.12, which is four cents less when compared to this day last week and 15 cents less per gallon when compared to this day last year.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand increased from 8.23 million b/d last week to 8.45. Total domestic gasoline supply increased from 247.9 million barrels to 248.3, while gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.2 million barrels per day.
“Gas prices are expected to remain steady as March arrives and routine seasonal maintenance wraps up,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson.
