KERMIT, TX — Atlas Energy Solutions Inc. announced the first commercial delivery utilizing its 42-mile Dune Express conveyor system, a fully electric proppant logistics network designed to improve efficiency in the Permian Basin.
The milestone delivery occurred on Sunday, Jan. 12, originating at Atlas’ Kermit, Texas, facility and traveling 42 miles to the company’s End-of-Line loadout facility in New Mexico. The system transported sand, a component for hydraulic fracturing, without the need for traditional trucking methods.
Atlas CEO John Turner described the Dune Express as a “step change” in oilfield logistics, citing its potential to enhance safety and reduce emissions.
“The first commercial delivery utilizing the Dune Express conveyor system is a major milestone for Atlas, our shareholders, and the customers we proudly serve," Turner stated. "I want to extend a big thank you to all of our employees, and particularly our construction team, for bringing this innovative project online.
"The Dune Express is a step change in oilfield logistics and will help redefine the efficiency and reliability for the Permian oil and gas community," he said. "In addition, the Dune Express will help make the communities of West Texas safer places to work and live by reducing truck traffic on public roads.”
The Dune Express features 42 miles of electrified conveyor systems, multiple loadout points, and a storage capacity exceeding 75,000 tons. The company aims to reduce road congestion and eliminate millions of truck miles annually, addressing safety risks and environmental concerns.
Atlas Energy Solutions plans to expand the system’s application to further support the oil and gas sector while promoting sustainable practices.
