SAN ANGELO, TX - The Mega Millions jackpot has surged to an estimated $740 million for the Dec. 17, 2024, drawing, with a cash option of $342.9 million, according to the Texas Lottery.
This marks one of the largest jackpots of the year.
The last drawing, held on Dec. 13, produced no jackpot winners, pushing the price higher. The winning numbers were 36, 43, 52, 58, 65, with the Mega Ball 16 and a Megaplier of 3. While no second-tier winners emerged in Texas, over 101,000 tickets won smaller prizes statewide.
Texas players who matched 4 of 5 numbers with the Mega Ball saw winnings of $10,000, while others claimed smaller payouts ranging from $2 to $200. Winners who opted for the Megaplier feature multiplied their prizes by up to three times.
Players have the option to claim their winnings through 30 annual payments or as a one-time cash payout. Tickets must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing.
The next Mega Millions drawing will take place at 10 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Players can purchase tickets until 9:45 p.m. that evening.
