MARFA, TX – A massive West Texas ranch, listed at $25.9 million earlier this year, has found a buyer. The 66,388-acre Lely Ranch, located in Presidio County near Big Bend Ranch State Park, was purchased by Johnny Weisman, founder of Hunter Industries, according to reports.
The property, which brokers described as “truly the last frontier,” was initially listed for $25.9 million. The sale was announced by Icon Global and King Land & Water, though the final price was not disclosed.
The ranch has been in the Lely family since the 1960s when a dairy magnate from the Netherlands purchased it. Known for its rugged terrain, the ranch features dramatic cliffs, canyons, and elevation changes of up to 1,500 feet. It also offers hunting opportunities, with wildlife including mule deer, elk, aoudad rams, javelinas, and hogs.
In addition to its natural beauty, the property holds historical significance. Canyon walls with ancient pictographs and other relics from Native American tribes and outlaws remain, as well as wreckage from a plane crash, which was noted in the listing.
The ranch, about 30 minutes south of Marfa, hasn’t changed ownership in over 60 years. The new owners are expected to continue its legacy of conservation and recreational use.
