Airplane Crashes at Llano Airport

LLANO, TX — A Cirrus SR-22 single-engine airplane crashed at Llano Municipal Airport shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

The 2005 Cirrus SR-22 was en route to Llano from Sugar Land, near Houston. Flight logs indicate a normal flight until the landing. The aircraft appeared to have touched down at Llano but then veered off the prepared surface of the runway, causing its fixed gear to collapse.

According to radio communications as emergency crews responded, the three occupants, including the pilot, were able to walk away from the crash. The plane skidded off the runway and into the grass approximately 400 feet down the runway.

The weather was clear and sunny, with an 11 mph breeze out of the southeast. Llano’s only paved runway is 17/35, and the Cirrus landed with only a slight crosswind component, according to the plane’s flight path on FlightAware.
