29 Texans Appear on Forbes' 2024 Billionaire Roster

SAN ANGELO, TX - Nearly 30 Texans made Forbes' latest list of world billionaires.

Texas transplant Elon Musk is among the nation's upper echelons. His net worth of $195 billion ranks him above Amazon's Jeff Bezos and second overall behind Bernard Arnault and family, the owners of Louis Vuitton and Sephora.

Other prominent Texans include Dell CEO Michael Dell, energy founder Autry Stephens, and Bert "Tito" Beveridge of Tito's Vodka.

Forbes also reported that this year has been particularly lucrative for the .1 percent, with billionaires earning a combined $2 trillion more than in 2023.

Of those total gains, the top 20 billionaires alone amassed $700 billion more in wealth since last year.

Texans working minimum wage at $7.25 at 40 hours per week would take roughly 69,000 years to earn $1 billion.

There are also more billionaires than last year, setting a new record at 2,781.

Musk came in at number two on the list. The tech billionaire, who gained $15 million since 2023, is the majority owner of X, formerly Twitter, SpaceX, and Tesla. A recent report also found that Tesla is the largest employer in Austin.

Another Texan who came in at number 344 on the list is Charles Butt, the chairman and CEO of the H-E-B supermarket chain. His net worth grew from $7.5 billion to $7.6 billion in the last year, but Butt famously got his start in the family business bagging groceries as a child.

Number 115 is Stanley Kroenke, the owner of the Los Angeles Rams, the Denver Nuggets, and the United Kingdom's Arsenal soccer club. His fortune has almost doubled since 2021, totaling just over $16 billion. He is married to Walmart heiress Ann Walton Kroenke, a billionaire.
