SAN ANGELO, TX - The Sweetwater Jaycees "World's Largest Rattlesnake Roundup" continues through this weekend.
The roundup occurs at the Nolan County Coliseum every year on the second weekend of March.
The event, which runs from March 8th to the 10th, aims to educate the public about rattlesnakes' role in the environment.
The lineup includes a snake-eating contest, the longest snake contest, and guided hunts, all taking place at the Nolan County Coliseum in Sweetwater, Texas.

- 8:00 am: Cookoff (Sanctioned by LSBS)
- 9:00 am-6:00 pm: Sweetwater Rifle & Pistol Club Gun, Knife, and Coin Show

- 7:00 pm: Dance at the Jaycee Barn

To those who think they know rattlesnakes because they have encountered one or two, the Sweetwater Rattlesnake Roundup can be (1) educational, and (2) a hoot. Been there. Done that. Captured and submitted a few. Decided the meat does NOT taste like chicken (yes, I'd eat it again, even though it's a bit oily).
Seriously speaking, this event can be a lot of fun. After all, it's true West Texas stuff.
