Funeral Details for Fallen Wingate VFD Firefighter

 

WINGATE, TX — The Wingate Volunteer Fire Department is in mourning after the tragic loss of one of its own, Kallie Ann Antilley Martinez, in the early hours of Christmas morning. 

The department has now announced the details of her funeral service, a solemn occasion to honor the fearless firefighter's dedication and service to the Wingate community.

Funeral Service Information:

  • Visitation: The visitation for Kallie Ann Antilley Martinez will take place at the Hamil Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
  • Date and Time: The service is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Funeral Venue: The funeral itself will be held at the Winters Baptist Church, 104 W Truett St in Winters, Texas.
  • Date and Time: The funeral ceremony is set for Monday, Jan. 1, at 1 p.m.
  • End of Watch Call and Processional: Following the funeral service, an "end of watch call" and "processional to Shep Cemetery" will take place.
  • Dispatch Procedure: Runnels Dispatch will make a call to unit 236, with a specific sequence: "236, dead air, 236, dead air, 236 time (——-), 236 you are relieved of duty; thank you for your service."
  • Cemetery Details: The cemetery is located at FM 1086 Wingate TX (Hwy 277 to FM 1086, turn right from Abilene, left coming from Wingate, cemetery on the right ¾ of a mile).

Martinez, a dedicated and proud servant to the Wingate community, fearlessly embraced her role as a firefighter. Her commitment and unwavering resolve were not only a credit to her own character but also a reflection of her family's legacy within the department.
