Texas Vehicle Inspection System Crashes Statewide

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety's vehicle inspection system has been down for two days due to an unexpected outage. While the outage initially began on August 23, there is no estimation on when the system will be up and running again.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety Facebook page:

DPS is currently experiencing issues with the vehicle inspection system. The outage began on Aug. 23 and is ongoing. This issue does not allow stations in safety-only counties to conduct proper inspections. At this time, emission inspections are not impacted by this outage. Station license renewal applications are also unavailable.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We will post updates when the issue is resolved.

More updates will be provided when they become available.
