Search for Missing Big Lake Man Ends in Coke County

 

BRONTE, TX — A Big Lake man was found deceased on a rural highway in Coke County on Saturday. 

According to the Reagan County Sheriff’s Office, on July 13, 2023, Tommy Mitchell, of Big Lake, was reported missing after not returning home from an appointment. 

Mitchell’s vehicle was found on Highway 158 between Robert Lee and Bronte. Mitchell was only accompanied by his dog. Authorities found “Buster” on July 21, 2023. 

The RCSO, the Coke County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Operations Division continued to search the area and discovered Mitchell’s remains near the area. 

“Investigators and Officials of the Reagan and Coke County Sheriff’s Offices along with Texas DPS Flight Officers give their condolences to Tommy’s family and friends,” stated the RCSO on its Facebook Page. “Out of respect for the family, no further information will be posted on this platform and we ask that all comments be respectful with his family in mind.”
