Colorado City Stuck Without Water During Dreadful Summer Heat

COLORADO CITY, TX – Residents in Colorado City are currently battling a water shortage issue during an intense heat streak.

According to multiple reports, on June 24, 2023, the Colorado City's water pumps in the filtration system was struck by lightning causing a stop in city's water supply. 

After five days without water citizens are finally able to use water. However they are being asked to extremely conserve water. That means no swimming pools, green lawns, or clean cars this summer.

Residents have been struggling with the issue. One person told KTXS that it is not just the adults that are hurting but the children as well. 

“I have a four and a half granddaughter and last night I had to give her a bath in about a one and a half inch worth of bath water, which was really hard," said the resident. "She's not going to be able to take many baths because of the situation.” 

The Stripes Truck stop is offering free showers at this time. However showers aren't the only problem. Other issues like rush on drinking water, washing clothes, and operating toilets impacted the area.

Friday morning Colorado City residents were able to use their water. Despite that Mayor Travis Lynch says that it may be only temporary depending on water usage. There is no time line on when the full repairs will be made.
