Abilene House Fire Claims Life of Family Dog

 

ABILENE- A family dog died after a fire broke out at an Abilene residence Thursday morning.

According to reports, just before 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, Abilene firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at the 2200 block of North Mockingbird Lane and discovered smoke coming from an attached garage.

The occupants of the house were attempting to use a water hose to douse the flames, but the fire teams acted quickly to contain the fire.

While no one was reported injured, a dog was found deceased inside the house and the damage from the fire is estimated to be estimated at about $10,000. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
