Vital Railroad Bridge Burns in Brewster County

 

MARATHON, TX – A Union Pacific railroad bridge west of Marathon caught on fire and burned Wednesday according to the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office.

This morning, Brewster County Sheriff’s Deputies, Marathon Volunteer Fire Department, Alpine Volunteer Fire Department, and the Texas A&M Forest service responded to a set of railroad tracks that caught fire west of Marathon, Texas.

Despite dry conditions and high winds, the fire was contained quickly, and Union Pacific crews will begin repairs as soon as possible to restore service to the tracks.

It is unknown what caused the fire at this time.
