LUBBOCK – A Ropesville teen was seriously injured in a crash last week and communities and schools have banded together to support the young woman.
On Thursday, Kallie Ketchersid was driving home from One Act Play practice when she left the roadway, overcorrected, and rolled her vehicle close to the intersection of FM 1585 and FM 168. She was airlifted from the scene and taken to University Medical Center.
Three days later, Ketchsid was moved to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.
The communities in the area have come together to show support for Kallie. The junior class at Ropesville has begun taking donations until March 11 for Ketchersid’s family. To show support, the school wore pink on Monday and on Wednesday, food trucks will be available and proceeds will go to benefit Kallie’s family.
Mijo’s Tex-Mex BBQ, The Spud Truck, and Frios’ food trucks will be at the school and the First Baptist Church is putting on a gift-card drive for the family.
Kallie Ketchersid is a cheerleader at Ropes High School and is also involved in One Act Play, FFA, UIL, and basketball.
Checks can be made out to Ropes Jr. Class and mailed to 304 Ranch Road in Ropesville, Texas 79358. All you have to do is write Kallie in the memo line.
You can donate to a medical benefit at any Peoples Bank or mail a deposit to Peoples Bank Attn: Chelsea Salazar at 5820 82nd Street, Lubbock, Texas 79424.
