DALLAS, TX — Angelo Graham-West is completely innocent, the Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot, a Democrat, told West’s defense attorney George Milner. And the DWI charges against her will be dropped.
“The district attorney also reviewed the toxicology report which proved there was NO ALCOHOL in her blood, as well as NO DRUGS of any kind in her system. The means NO CHARGES will be filed against Ms. West!!,” Milner wrote in a letter West provided.
Angela West was pulled over August 20 for failing to signal a turn. The traffic stop turned into a DWI investigation after Angela West displayed suspicious movements in her driving — she initially stopped in a lane of traffic before laboriously pulling over. She was also not maintaining a single lane of travel, according to the DPD dash cam video.
A Dallas police officer initiated a field sobriety test and failed Ms. West before asking her to blow into a breathalyzer. The breathalyzer results were inconclusive. At that point, Ms. West was handcuffed and arrested where she bailed out the next day. Ms. West’s passenger was her minor grandchild who was turned over to the child’s parents after the arrest.

Husband Allen West is a candidate for the GOP nomination for governor, facing off with incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott in 2022. Mr. West has called for the firing of the officer who arrested his wife. He amended his demands Sept. 1 after the toxicology test results were known.
“I stand by my assertion that a full apology to my wife Angela is warranted,” West said in a statement on his campaign website. “As well, the full unedited body cam video should be released by the Dallas PD Chief Garcia to the press and the public. My wife’s honor and reputation should have never been assailed.”
Prior to the release of the toxicology results that vindicated Ms. West, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia stood by the officer who arrested Ms. West, at one point offering that his officer was lenient. The officer could have released Ms. West’s grandson to the custody of CPS, he said.
