Dangerous Sinkhole Swallows Part of Street in Abilene

ABILENE, TX -- A large sinkhole became an unwelcome addition to a street in northern Abilene Thursday.

According to drivers who frequent Grape St.,  the sinkhole opened up last month after heavy rainfall.

In response, the City of Abilene blocked off portions of the road with cones and signs to warn drivers.

The sinkhole is located near the  Abilene Fire Department's Fire Station #4.  Repairs are expected to begin this week.
