High School BBQ Teams Compete at State

 

LLANO, TX- The Texas High School BBQ State Championship Cook Off was held in Llano this past Saturday.

You read that right, Texas High School’s have BBQ Teams now. There were categories for chicken, brisket, ribs, pinto beans, and desserts. Also, each team had to have enough food for 18 judges to each have a bite.

All the food had to be cooked with wood or wood products and any kind of smoker or pit could be used be it homemade, shop made, or commercial made.

The 2020-2021 season saw co-grand champions in the Smoking Eagles from Atascocita and Bulldog FFA BBQ from Burnet High School.

Reserve Champions were the Bar-B-QTs from James Madison High School and 3rd place went to the Pretty Pit Bosses from Sweeny High School.
