ABILENE, TX -- As the Stiefer family is facing the loss of 21-year-old Corbin Stiefer, family friends have created a GoFundMe account to support them through these difficult times.
The following message was shared on the GoFundMe:
"As friends of the Stiefer family, we are creating this fundraiser to help Corbin's family pay tribute to their loved son, brother and grandson. Corbin was very kind and always a joy to be around, he attended Abilene Christian University. Corbin was loved by many friends here in Tyler and in Abilene. We are trying to help this family in anyway that we can in this hard time. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will be given to his family to help them with any of their needs."
Details regarding Stiefer's death and disappearance remain limited at this time. Police confirmed they found his car running off Loop 49 tollway. His body was then located in a drainage ditch under the tollway.
ACU President Dr. Phil Schubert shared the following message with students and staff via email.
"We are saddened to learn this morning of the death of a recent student, Corbin Stiefer of Tyler, Texas. Corbin was a history major and a member of Galaxy men’s fraternity. His sister, Darcy, is a first-year student at ACU, and his parents Jeff (’96) and Carys (Manning ’94) are alumni.
I’ve spoken to the family, and we extend them our sincere condolences as they mourn the loss of their son and brother. Our thoughts and prayers are also with those in our own community who knew Corbin and are grieving. The ACU Counseling Center is available on campus and can be reached at [email protected] or 325-674-2626. You can also access counseling services through our telehealth provider, Wildcat Care.
Please join me in praying for the Stiefer family and Corbin’s friends and loved ones. ACU’s flag will fly at half-staff in his memory. Memorial arrangements are pending and details will be shared on myACU as we learn more.
In Him,
Phil
