Renaming Committee Selects Top Names for Robert E. Lee High School

MIDLAND, TX -- After voting to rename Robert E. Lee High School over the summer, it appears the Midland Lee Naming Committee has come up with several new options.

According to a Facebook post by Midland City Councilman John Norman the committee had voted for their top five choices.

"Names were proposed by most committee members. All members were then allowed to vote for up to 5 names (Hence the votes equaling more than 23; the number of members on the committee). After a tally of votes, these are the top 5 names that will be voted down to 3 by the renaming committee next week. Which would you choose and why?" read the post.

The following five names were listed as the main contenders:

  1. Midland Carver Lee (15 votes)
  2. Tall City High School (12 votes)
  3. Basin High School (11 votes)
  4. Lee High School (11 votes)
  5. Legacy of Equality and Excellence (10 votes)

The list will further be narrowed down to three at the committee's next meeting.
