Texas Sues Houston Election Officials for Mail-in Ballot Applications

AUSTIN, TX – The battle over mail-in balloting in Texas has now reached Houston where the state is currently suing over the cities election officials' plans to send out mail-in ballot applications to all two million registered voters in Harris County.

Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the lawsuit on Monday, as Texas is one of the few states not allowing more individuals to vote by mail in November over growing pandemic fears.

The state of Texas allows mail-in ballots for registered citizens who are 65 or older, disabled or will be outside the county on Election Day.

However, Harris County official's say the decision is up to each voter who gets an application to decide whether or not they’re eligible to vote come November.
