Border Patrol Seizes Over 100 lbs of Cocaine

PRESIDIO, TX - U.S. Customers and Border Protection officers made an alarming discovery on a bus Friday.

According to a release, CBP officers made the seizure just after 11 p.m. August 14 when a 2005 Volvo bus with a dozen passengers arrived from Mexico.

As the passengers were being processed officers began a thorough examination of the bus after a drug-sniffing dog alerted the officers after 'marking'  a scent near the rear of the bus.

CBP officers then x-rayed the vehicle and noted several anomalies hidden inside the air tanks of the vehicle.

A search of the bus' air tanks led to the discovery of roughly 30 bundles of cocaine, which weighed in at a total of 104 pounds.

According to CBP, both the bus and all narcotics were seized immediately.

“This is one of the largest and most significant seizures in recent history at this international crossing” said CBP Presidio Port Director Fred Hutterer. “Any cocaine seizure is significant but when you seize more than 100 pounds in single incident that is exceptionally rare.”
