Abilene Animal Services Flies 47 Rescues Across the Country

ABILENE, TX — The Abilene Animal Services department had an exciting Thursday morning after 47 dogs were flown to different states to be rescued.

According to KTXS, the dogs were given a second chance thanks to a grant from the Petco Foundation and in partnership with Dog Is My CoPilot, Inc.

Around 2:00 a.m. the dogs were loaded up transported to the Abilene airport and began their flight at 5:00 a.m. The dogs will be delivered to locations in California, Colorado, and Idaho.

According to Abilene Animal Services Director Mike Bricker having the ability to potentially save 47 animals is a great feeling.

"That’s why we do this," said Bricker. "It's honestly one of the most rewarding jobs in the world."
