Midland County District Clerk Arrested for DWI

MIDLAND, TX – The District Clerk of Midland County was arrested for driving while intoxicated in downtown Midland last week.

According to the arrest affidavit, 60-year-old Alex Archuleta was stopped by a Midland Police officer who observed a car making a wide turn onto Big Spring Street and driving 10 miles per hour under the posted speed limit.

The officer reported he could smell alcohol on Archuleta's breath and observed that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.

Driving While Intoxicated is a class B misdemeanor.

Because Archuleta is an elected official he can keep his job.   If he was convicted of a felony he would be ineligible to hold public office.

Archuleta was appointed District Clerk in January 2018 and was elected in November of the same year.

Archuleta previously was a long time employee of Midland County.
