SAN ANGELO,TX — A massive wildfire has broken out in coke county and has burned over 2,000 acres.
According to the Texas Forest Service, on June 13, a number of volunteer fire departments across the Concho Valley were dispatched to grass fire in Coke county off of W State Highway 158. After the first day the Forest Service reported 1,000 at only 5% contained.
The following day, June 14, the Robert Lee VFD reported over 2,000 acres burned.
A fire line has been set up on 158 and the fire has not jumped the road at this time.
Grape Creek, Carlsbad, Quail Valley, Dove Creek, Bronte, East Concho and the Robert lee Volunteer Fire Departments were called out along with the the Texas Forest Service.
Crews are asking people to avoid the area if possible.
