Coronavirus: Abilene Closes City Hall Offices

ABILENE, TX – The City of Abilene announced it will close City Hall offices to the public starting next Tuesday. Staff will be available via the telephone to answer questions and to help with services.

As cities and counties continue to take preventive measures to slow the spread of the Coronavirus, many government offices are closing their doors.

According to KTXS, the only office that will remain open will be the Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District. The Animal Shelter will be open by appointment only.

On Monday, City Hall will be open from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and a special City Council meeting will be held at 11:15 a.m.

The city announced it’s IT department is working on how the emergency meeting and subsequent meetings will be held to allow the public to present their comments, while still practicing social distancing.
