Relief Fund Established to Aid with Catastrophic Sonora Flooding

SONORA, TX — In heavy rains Friday afternoon, most parts of the city of Sonora were underwater. The Sutton County Sheriffs Office reported that I-10 was closed and U.S. 277 northbound out of Sonora was impassable.

As multiple water recues were reported, helicopter footage filming from above Sonora caught the extent of the damage.

Watch:

The Sonora Ministerial Alliance quickly setup a fundraising campaign to aid families affected by the flooding. Working through the San Angelo Area Foundation, donations are being accepted online or by mail to the San Angelo Area Foundation offices: Sonora Flood Relief Fund c/o San Angelo Area Foundation, 221 S. Irving St., San Angelo, TX 76903.

Sonora is 77 miles due south of San Angelo at the intersection of I-10 and U.S. 277 highways.

This is a breaking story. We went to Sonora Saturday morning and observed the aftermath.
