Raging Wildfire Spreads into Llano County

 

JOHNSON CITY, TX -- Blanco County Emergency Management officials are coordinating efforts to contain a wildfire that moved into Llano County.  According to the Blanco County Emergency Management facebook page, At 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, multiple Fire Department units were dispatched for a report of a vegetation fire with a structure endangered in the area of RR 962 West & Smith-West Ranch Rd in Round Mountain.

The first arriving fire units reported heavy fire conditions, and the fire quickly jumped RR 962 and began moving into Llano County. Due to the conditions, multiple agencies were requested for assistance and over 20 different fire departments responded and participated in firefighting operations.

At the last assessment, the size of the fire was estimated at 660 acres with approximately 25% containment. At the present time, no structures are endangered. RR 962 continues to remain closed for firefighting operations, and the Texas A&M Forest Service is on scene with several crews. Fire Crews remained on scene conducting operations overnight, with additional resources arriving in the morning to scale up operations in the daylight hours.
