New Amarillo Billboard Sings a Different Tune

AMARILLO, TX — Last week social media was rocked by a Facebook post of a billboard that was six miles east of Vega, TX.

Kyle McCallie took a photo of a billboard that read, “Liberals please continue on I-40 until you have left our GREAT STATE OF TEXAS.”

According to News West 9, the advertising company that owns the billboard took the sign down because of the social media outrage towards the post. The person who paid for the billboard was also refunded.

Amarillo citizens who disagreed with the original billboard took to a GoFundMe page to fund a new sign.

The new billboard is much different for the old one, “TEXAS is for EVERYONE — not for BIGOTRY. Welcome Y’all – The people of Amarillo.”

Tessa Johnson posted the new billboard on Friday on her Facebook saying, “I like our billboard much better.”
