Clemens' Siblings See Each Other for First Time Since Horrific Crash

FORT WORTH, TX — On April 23 two San Angelo siblings saw each other for the first time since the crash that devastated their family.

According to KTXS, family members said Zachary Clemens, 5, was able to “leave his bed and get into a wheelchair for the first time.” Zachary did so to see his older sister Angie, 8.

Their parents, Jim and Karisa Clemens, and their 2-month-old sister Juliana were killed on April 7 after a vehicular accident. The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe hit the family’s SUV on Hwy 87, south of Sterling City.

Zachary, Angela, and Wyatt, 4, were all critically injured after the crash and have been receiving treatment at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. Two-year-old Nicholas was treated and released after the crash occurred.

Karisa’s Aunt, Teresa Burrell, had set up a fundraiser for the surviving members of the family to get the treatment they need to recover and funeral expenses. The goal for this fundraiser was $40,000 and in just 18 days, 2,095 people have contributed and raised $101,240.

If you wish to contribute, the family is still accepting donations here.

A brisket fundraiser labeled “Clemens Strong” will be hosted by Liberty Tax will this Saturday, April 28, and it has received support from just about everyone. The City of San Angelo gave the group use of the Farmers Market at 609 South Oakes Street. The fundraiser will start at 11:00 a.m. and will run until them “sell out” of brisket.
