Odessa Police Investigate Fatal Apartment Shooting

ODESSA, TX — One person is dead after trying to force his way into an apartment in Odessa, according to CBS7.

According to the Odessa Police Department, officers responded to a gunshot victim at the Sunset Lodge Apartments at 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

When officers arrived at the scene they found Jerrod Dement, 20, with several gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation revealed that a man at the apartment was awakened by someone banging loudly on his front door.  

Dement then allegedly forced his way into the apartment where he was shot several times.

At this time no charges have been filed.
