Man Dies After Being Electrocuted on Top of a Scurry County Wind Turbine

SCURRY COUNTY, TX -- A Colorado City man died on Thursday after being electrocuted at a wind farm in Scurry County.

The incident happened at an Invenergy wind farm in Camp Springs, which is east of Snyder, according to KTXS.

The Snyder Daily News reported that the victim was identified as 29-year-old Cody Lee Hubbard. He was working at the top of a wind turbine when he was fatally shocked.

A spokesperson for Invenergy told KTXS they are saddened by the death, but they "are working with authorities to determine the cause of the incident and are conducting a thorough review."

It took the combined efforts of the Scurry County EMS, Snyder Fire Department, and the Scurry County Sheriff's Office to retrieve Hubbard from the turbine. Hubbard was pronounced dead at the Cogdell Memorial Hospital, according to the Snyder Daily News report.

An obituary for Hubbard said he had worked with Invenergy for 10 years.

He was buried Monday morning at Dorn Cemetery in Colorado City.
