SAN MARCOS, TX – As President Elect Donald Trump places the final touches on his inauguration ceremony, the Texas State University's Strutters dance team is getting ready to perform in the parade. But agreeing to perform has caused problems for the dance team.
According to a local news source, the team resorted to disabling some of their social media accounts after receiving hateful backlash from several followers. The team had announced they were honored to participate last Wednesday, and by Friday, the team had deactivated their Twitter account.
The Austin American-Statesman reported that users had been blocked after posting comments that protested the group’s decision to accept the invitation. According to the news source, representatives for the group were not available for comment.
Thus far, several world known performers have publicly turned down invitations to perform in the event. Stars like Elton John, Kiss, Céline Dion, Garth Brooks and David Foster have said no for a variety of reasons.
