19-Year-Old Speaks to Abilene Police About Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash

 

A 24-year-old Abilene man, Justin Nelson Robinson, died in a fatal hit-and-run crash early this morning.

According to a press release, the Abilene Police Department Dispatch received a call of an injured subject at 1:34 a.m.

Police arrived on the scene and secured the area. They found Robinson lying in the middle of the roadway on T&P Lane, near East South 11th Street, across from Cal Young Park.

Police said Robinson was deceased and appeared to have been hit by a vehicle and dragged several feet. APD staed a citizen driving on T&P Lane saw Robinson in the roadway and made the initial 911 call.

Justice of the Peace Mike McAuliffe was called to the scene and pronounced Robinson deceased. There was no indication of the type of vehicle that may have hit him. The incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run, and information will be released in the near future.

Update July 14, 2016 @ 3:30 p.m.

According to a press release, a 19-year-old man from Abilene came forward later the same day of the hit-and-run to speak to detectives about the incident. The investigation is ongoing and the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney's office for considerations of charges. The 19-year-old is currently not in police custody.
