2009 Odessa Murder Suspect Accidentally Released From Prison

A search is underway for a 2009 Odessa murder suspect after he was accidentally released from federal custody.

According to a local news source, authorities are looking for Paul Lujan, 32, who is currently wanted for state murder charges.

Lujan was originally arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred outside of what is now known as Brewski's Bar in August 2009.

Police said, after multiple interviews with witnesses and processing evidence, they believe that Lujan caused an injury that resulted in the death of Roger Lee Vasquez Jr., 22.

According to court documents, a witness came forward and told police that a witness to the murder said Lujan stabbed Vasquez, Jr.

Police are asking citizens who happen to come into contact with Lujan to not approach him; he is believed to be armed and dangerous.

If you have any information on Lujan's whereabouts, contact Odessa Police at (432) 333-3641, or Odessa Crime Stoppers at (432) 333-TIPS.
