Abilene Police Investigate a Homicide

 

Abilene Police are investigating a homicide at an apartment complex located on the 3400 Block of Vogel Ave.

According to a press release, today, at 3:31 a.m., Abilene Police received a call of an injured subject and possible shooting at the apartment complex. When police arrived, they secured the scene, and found one male subject deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. He was lying on the sidewalk outside one of the units at the apartment complex. A second subject was injured and taken to a local hospital with a gunshot injury.

Detectives canvassed the area and processed the crime scene. The victims’ names are being withheld pending the investigation.

Through the investigation, possible parties involved were identified. Kobe Tayler Poston of Abilene,17, was taken into custody by Abilene Police a few hours after the shooting for a probation violation warrant. He was questioned and is charged with Second Degree Felony Aggravated Assault in this incident.

Jared Dykes of Anson, 18, was also taken into custody in connection with this investigation. He was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Jones County. The investigation continues.
