Lake Brownwood Water Level Continues to Rise

This afternoon, Tim Airheart, Assistant City Manager for Public Works in Brownwood, said the current Lake Brownwood water level is slightly above 1427 feet. The National Weather Service expects the lake to crest at 1428 feet by this afternoon.  Emergency services personnel will be monitoring water levels overnight.

“There are no streets or facilities closed, with the exception of Riverside and Fabis Parks,” said Airheart

Airheart added that the NWS advised there is 50 percent chance of ½ - 2 inches of rain over the weekend in the Brownwood area, which could increase the predicted levels.

People are advised to stay away from high rushing water, especially onlookers at bridges. A sand bag station is not planned at this time.

“As updates are available, they will be issued via press releases to the media, City website www.brownwoodtexas.gov, City of Brownwood and Brownwood/Brown County Emergency Management Facebook pages, and Code Red alerts,” said Airheart.

Businesses, residences and properties prone to flooding should take precautionary measures, he said.
