The Abilene Police Department, in conjunction with the City of Abilene, will have an abandoned vehicle auction this Saturday, April 30, starting at 10:00 a.m. Anyone wishing to bid must register prior to the 10:00 a.m. start of the auction. Bidder numbers will not be issued after the start of the auction.
The auction will be held at the City Impound lot located at 2349 Sandy St. off of Business I-20 & Loop 322. Approximately 175 abandoned vehicles will be up for auction to the highest bidders. Vehicles impounded by the City’s Junked Vehicle ordinance will be sold only to licensed salvage dealers to be demolished.
The faculty will be opened for viewing and bidder registration on Wednesday, April 27, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on April 30. Vehicles may not be viewed any other times. A list of vehicles to be sold and bidder registration will be available during viewing times. Check with impounds personnel upon entering the facility.
People must receive a bidder number prior to the start of the auction. There is no registration fee. Picture identification is required. The preferred method of payment is cash. APD does not accept credit cards, debit cards, or partial payments. A bank issued letter of guarantee must accompany all checks given.
The impound lot is located off East Hwy 80, one mile East of Judge Ely, turn South on to Shaffner Rd. and East at the intersection of Sandy Street.
