New Braunfels

With the community offering one of the “World’s Best Waterparks,” according to Amusement Today’s magazine, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels provides a cooling experience for the whole family. Visitors can take advantage of the natural surroundings, most notable being the hill side scenery and the cool water from the Guadalupe River. A ride down the lazy river would keep anybody cool during the Spring Break season.

Select attractions are open March 12-20 for spring break, according to Schlitterbahn.com. There is also $5 off the 2016 Season Pass. Free Parking and Free Inner tubes are available, and picnics are welcome as well.

San Marcos

With its small town setting, it comes as no surprise that Texans would be stopping off to enjoy some of what this community has to offer. Visitors can tube down the San Marcos River, or even taking one of the famous glass bottom boat rides. Not to mention, people can shop, shop, shop at the San Marcos Premium Outlets. For some additional fun, people can travel a short distance to Austin and San Antonio.

The glass-bottom boat tours open from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and run continuously 30 minutes after opening until 30 minutes before closing, according to www.meadowscenter.txstate.edu. The pricing are as followed: Adults: $9.75, Seniors (62+): $8.00, Children (3-12): $6.00, and children, 2 and under, are free.

Austin, Lake Travis

With the lake stretching over 60 miles, Lake Travis provides an opportunity for fisherman and water sports enthusiasts to take full advantage of their spring break. People can enjoy many recreational activities including sailing, windsurfing and canoeing to name a few. Also, the lake is located approximately 20 miles above Austin on the Colorado River, so people can also enjoy dining in the city, or take some time to enjoy a bit of night life.

Waverunner’s for two people can be purchased for $75 hourly, $280 for 4 hours, and $520 for 8 hours according to www.aquaholic.org. Party boats are available for varying prices on the website. Reservations are strongly recommended and a 10% discount is offered for rentals Monday through Thursday (excluding Party Boats). All prices include equipment instruction, fuel and safety equipment.

Austin, City Center

For those travelers who don’t want to spend their spring break out at the lake, Austin’s City Center provides an educational opportunity for those looking to learn a little more about Texas. From the capital building to the bustling music to be heard at 6th street, there is something for all tourists and natives of Texas to enjoy.

“The capitol provides a free tour”, said Matt Alvarez with the City Center. “Though the Sixth street night life might be expensive, it still provides a fun experience overall.”

San Antonio

For those spring breakers who want to take a look at one of Texas’most historical landmarks, the Alamo can provide that opportunity. Many visitors continue to enjoy the story of Texas hero Davy Crockett and the soldier who stood strong with him during the war with Mexico. After the visit, visitors can take a stroll down the San Antonio river walk to enjoy a bit of night life, bars and restaurants. Live music also provides a fun environment for all visitors to enjoy. Take advantage of the boat tour that allows those in attendance to gain the full experience of the River Walk while also getting to hear about the history of the city from the tour guides.

The Alamo is open Monday-Sunday from 9 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. The River Walk Cruises are about 35 minutes long, and cover one and a half miles of the beautiful San Antonio River Walk, according to ww.viator.com. This also includes hop-on, hop-off abilities to take full advantage of the tour.
