City of Abilene Hosts Mardi Gras Theme Dog Parade

According to a media release Wednesday, Animal Services and the Recreation Division in Abilene is calling all fur-loving fanatics to their Krewe of Barkus Mardis Gras Dog Parade.

"There is nothing more spectacular than a parade of pups and their owners all decked out in feathers, beads, and Mardis Gras costumes," said the release.

The City of Abilene Recreation and Animal Services divisions are teaming up with the American Cancer Society to bring what they deem the best four-legged walking parade in town.

The event will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at 10 a.m. at Camp Barkeley in Nelson Park. The event is free to the public.

Prizes will be awarded in an array of categories including most gold, most creative, best float, King and Queen, and more.  Animal Services will also have an exclusive offer on pet chipping for $15 during this event.
