Honduran Man Rescued From the Rio Grande

A Honduran man is alive and well today after U.S. Border Patrol agents and Border Patrol Marine unit in Eagle Pass rescued him from drowning in the Rio Grande River, said a press release Tuesday.

Rodolfo Karisch, Del Rio Sector Chief, stated, "The dangerous journey through the often unforgiving current of the Rio Grande River results in many deaths." He noted, "I commend the men and women of the United States Border for their quick response and selfless dedication."

According to the press release,  on November 24, at approximately 9 a.m., agents from the Eagle Pass Station, conducting maritime operations along the Rio Grande River, rescued a Honduran national from drowning. The subject was observed by Marine agents struggling to stay above water. The Border Patrol Marine unit agents quickly tossed a rescue bag to the subject, who then grabbed onto it and was pulled onto the boat to safety.

The 24-year-old declined medical treatment and was transported to the Eagle Pass South Station for processing, per CBP guidelines.
