San Angelo Police Chief Tim Vasquez was sworn in as the President of the Texas Police Chiefs Association this morning at the organization’s annual breakfast held in conjunction with the annual Texas Municipal League conference in San Antonio.

Vasquez was sworn-in by is father Armando Vasquez who is a retired San Angelo police officer and an inspiration of Tim Vasquez’s career. Vasquez is the first head of the organization who is an elected police chief and the first San Angelo police chief to hold this statewide office.
About 50 members of the TPCA and city government officials from all over the state attended the breakfast.

San Angelo City Manager Daniel Valenzuela, Assistant San Angelo City Manager Michael Dane, and San Angelo City Attorney Theresa James were there. Assistant Chief of Investigations Robert Martinez and Assistant Chief of Field Operations Kevin Holloway were there as well.
Vasquez said that his goal as President of the TPCA was to help all police departments in Texas improve community policing practices, enhancing the ability of Texas police departments to work well with all Texans.
