DPS Trooper Seizes Marijuana in Eastland County

ABILENE – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Tuesday on IH-20, yielding almost six pounds of marijuana valued at over $35,000.

At approximately 6:35 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2001 Chevrolet SUV traveling westbound on IH-20, for a traffic violation, near Cisco in Eastland County.

During the traffic stop, the trooper observed criminal behavior and requested assistance from the Cisco Police Department K-9 division.  After a positive alert on the vehicle, officers found almost six pounds of marijuana in a leather bag that was located in the cargo area.  A pat down of the occupants led to the discovery of a pistol in the waistband of the passenger.

The driver was identified as Christopher Wright, 21, of Midland.  The passenger was identified as Aaron Jarmon, 24, of Midland.  Both men were released to the Eastland County jail and charged with possession of marijuana over five pounds but less than 50 pounds, a third degree felony.  Jarmon was also charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon.   The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Dallas to Midland.
