Angelo State Rambelles Face 2-Game Road Trip this Week
SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rambelles will take their six-game winning streak on the road to Central Texas this week as the journey continues toward clinching a spot in the Lone Star Conference tournament.
Angelo State opens the trip Thursday, Feb. 12, against St. Edward's Hilltoppers at the Recreation and Athletics Center in Austin, Texas, with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. The Rambelles then travel to San Antonio on Saturday, Feb. 14, to face the St. Mary's Rattlers at Bill Greehey Arena at 1 p.m.

Last time out, the Rambelles claimed their sixth straight victory with a win over Sul Ross State on Feb. 7 at home in the Junell Center–Stephens Arena. The win kept Angelo State in the Lone Star Conference playoff picture, sitting between the fifth and seventh seeds if the season were to end at the time of publication.
Angelo State had four players reach double figures, led by Landry Morrow with 15 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Taylor Grona added 13 points and a team-high four assists, while Kenna Wood and Tristin Keller finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Two Rambelles recorded career highs in the previous meeting, as Madeline Stephens scored 29 points and Keniah Williams added 21 while recording five blocks. Angelo State shot 50 percent from the field and won the turnover battle to secure the victory.
St. Edward’s enters the weekend with a 12-10 overall record and a 6-8 mark in conference play. The Hilltoppers swept last week’s games with a road win over Texas A&M International and a home victory over St. Mary’s on Monday night.
The Hilltoppers average 62.9 points per game while shooting 40.0 percent from the field, 27.6 percent from 3-point range and 73.6 percent from the free-throw line. Suni Davis leads the offense at 14.1 points per game, followed by Kiana Bennett at 11.7 points per contest.
Defensively, St. Edward’s allows just over 63 points per game and holds opponents to 39.2 percent shooting from the field. The Hilltoppers average nearly 36 rebounds per game, led by Mikah Chapman and Kendall Beck, who each average more than five per game.

Angelo State had three players score in double figures in the previous matchup before falling in overtime on the road. Madeline Stephens led the Rambelles with 17 points, followed by Majik Esquivel with 15 and Keniah Williams with 13.
St. Mary’s enters the weekend with a 12-8 overall record and a 7-7 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Rattlers are coming off a close home loss Monday night.
The Rattlers average 59.6 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field, 32.3 percent from beyond the arc and 70.5 percent from the free-throw line. Christin Callens leads the team with 11.3 points per game, followed closely by Allie Garcia at 10.3.
Defensively, St. Mary’s allows 57.2 points per game and limits opponents to 35.6 percent shooting from the field. The Rattlers average more than 33 rebounds per game, led by Raynne Malik, who averages 7.5 per game.
