Angelo State Tennis Begins Spring Campaign this Weekend
SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State women’s tennis team will open its 2026 spring season Friday when it hosts Weatherford College at the ASU Tennis Courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
The Rambelles start their fourth spring season under head coach Jason Potthoff, coming off a 15-7 campaign in 2025.
Angelo State returns one of the nation’s top individual players in sophomore Margaux Rene, who is ranked seventh in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason singles poll. Rene, a native of Soisy-sur-Seine, France, earned Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year honors last season after posting a team-best 17-5 singles record.
Rene is also part of a new doubles pairing with Sasa Felixova that enters the season ranked No. 22 in the ITA preseason doubles rankings.
The Rambelles return two players from last season’s roster in Rene and sophomore Benedetta Raggiotti, who finished 14-7 in singles play a year ago.
Angelo State has added six newcomers to the roster, including freshmen Danaiya Amangazhiyeva (Almaty, Kazakhstan), Jade Bestagno (Sainte-Maxime, France), Felixova (Sala, Slovakia), Anastasiia Melnikova (Moscow, Russia) and Anna Waché (Paris, France). Sophomore Vasilissa Kupriianova, a transfer from North Georgia, also joins the team after previously competing for the Nighthawks.
